A loss against rivals St Johns - again a lot of players missing through injury and other commitments. Virtually a new team with starting debuts for Nick Venables and Dar, the return of 'veteran' Grand Slammer Alan Harrison, and a sub performance by not so veteran Grand Slammer Chris Brown after some years of absence from kicking a ball.
Laxey looked the better team in the opening minutes - and we went ahead in the 7th minute. Matty Skillicorn had a shot blocked and Dar followed up to score his maiden goal for the first team, to the delight of spectators, and to make it 1 - 0 .
Tom Smith was having a fine game and put in a good clearing header. Shortly after St Johns 'scored' but fortunately for Laxey the linesman over-ruled the referee's decision.
Andy Ball made a great point blank save to stop a certain goal. He then made another great save, but a St Johns player followed up to head in and make it 1 -1 with 27 minutes gone.
Matty S nearly had a one on one chance against the goalkeeper but a defender snuffed out his run.
Andy made a fine diving save to stop another chance, and shortly after made another save when one on one with a St Johns forward coming through at him.
However St Johns went ahead on 35 minutes when a cross was deflected off a Laxey defender into the path of a St Johns attacker who made no mistake from a couple of yards out. 2-1 to St Johns.
Laxey had for some reason been outplayed by St Johns for the last 25 minutes of the half, despite their dominance early on.
In the second half Andy made another good save from a forward running through clear and Tom made a good clearance for a corner.
Michael Fernades headed over and then Dar came off to be replaced by the equal famous Chris Brown. His very first touch was a header over the bar.
Matty W his a free kick just over the bar and Andy Ball made another fine save with his feet. Michael was booked for a tackle and Chris Brown was booked for a shove on a St Johns player. Matty S hit a powerful long range shot just wide and St Johns hit the bar.
Jonny Shields came off to be replaced by Cain Brock and Olly Cain came off for Tom.
The game finished without further incident. Laxey did not perform particularly well and the game had that end of the season feel about it. A draw and two losses in the last three games meant that a top four finish was out of the question. The stats show the picture, with Laxey only having one shot on target - the Dar goal - all game.
Man of the Match contenders were Alan Harrison, Matty Wilkinson and Andy Ball - and just shading it as Greens in the Valley Man of the Match was
