An evening game away at Colby and the team was largely unchanged, with Johnny Callow and Stan Manning injured, Matty Wilkinson returned to the starting line up. And we had the plus of Gary Williams back into the fray as a substitute.
Laxey looked lively early on with some good passing and this paid off with the first goal with ten minutes gone. Joe Walters had a shot well saved and when the ball bounced back to the edge of the area he had a second shot and blasted it in from 20 yards out to give Laxey a 1 - 0 lead.
That gave the players a lot of confidence and they had a spell of dominance from then on. Joe Murley on the right wing worked well and his tremendous pace gave Colby a lot of problems.
Sean Gavin had a snapshot on the turn, just wide, and a George Burrows shot forced the keeper to make a good save.
David Screech Corlett had a near moment of glory, as the ball broke forward towards the Colby goalkeeper he sprinted from the back to outpace everyone and was only beaten to the ball by the keeper by a couple of feet.
Shortly after, Sean, running across the box with the ball was brought down and there was no doubt it was a penalty. Sean scored with the penalty to make it 2 - 0,the 'sitter' he could not miss, with 20 minutes gone.
He nearly scored again trying a cheeky back heel of the ball into the net but the keeper managed to block it.
Michael had a good header on target which the Colby keeper had to tip clear for a corner. Sean had another shot saved and Joe W on the follow up shot just wide.
It was pretty much one way traffic at this stage with George Burrows pulling all the strings in midfield and Colby getting little chance to move forward.
George had a strong shot just wide, and shortly after a shot from distance saved. Matty Wilkinson also blasted a great shot just over the bar.
And it was Matty who got the third goal. Sean fed a good ball to him and Matty ran through, with just the keeper to beat and coolly slotted in from 15 yards out to make it 3 - 0 to Laxey, not long before halftime.
Colby did have a couple of moments, a goal was disallowed for being offside and as the half ended Andy Ball had to make a good diving catch to keep a shot out.
During the first half, Andy Burkitt - who had another really good game, always cool and using the ball well - was injured and could not come out for the second half and was replaced at the back by one of the three remaining Grand Slammers, Gary Williams.
Michael did a repeat of one of his goals on Saturday - as the Colby keeper went to catch a ball in, Michael was on hand as the keeper spilled the ball and Michael coolly collected the ball, rounded a defender and scored his first of the night to make it 4 - 0, just a couple of minutes after the re-start.
Colby had a good attack when a strong shot pinged back off the bar, one of the few shots they got in.
Joe Murley was showing his pace all night and consistently beat his man and had a good run up the right to win a corner.
Sean had another shot saved and pushed out for a corner, and yet another corner came when a shot from George was also turned over.
We saw some delightful moves between George and Joe W and in fact there were times when the passing throughout the team was very impressive.
Sean had yet another shot saved, and but for the Colby keeper Laxey could have had several more goals.
But at the other end, Andy made a good save after some Laxey defensive uncertainty as Colby made one of their few sustained attacks.
For the last fifteen minutes, Rob McCowliff came on for Screech and Nathanka (Tar) came on for Joe Murley.
The Laxey attacks continued and Matty had a shot headed away, George had a shot wide after being well set up by Sean and Matty had another shot wide after a continuous period of Laxey attacks in the box, and Gary Williams put in a deep pinpoint cross from which a good header by Michael was just inches away from scoring.
But Michael was to score his second just after - Tar was showing his usual energy and making good runs with the ball and he flicked through a delightful ball to Sean and Sean sent over a cross from the left to Michael who nodded in from close range for his second to make it 5 - 0 with five minutes remaining.
And the final and sixth goal came from a great individual effort from Joe Walters - he burst through from midfield, running at pace at the defence and cleverly scored from the edge of the box to make it 6 - 0 just before the final whistle.
Colby put in a lot of effort and hopefully will have better days but they were outplayed by a young Laxey side.
It turned out that those six goals were enough to ensure that today Laxey are TOP of the Premier League - so well done to Paul Callow and his team and all the players for an impressive performance.
The back four of Screech, Andrew Burkitt, Jake Garvey and Joe Murley were solid throughout, as were Gary Williams and Rob when they came on. Andrew is obviously a star of the future as is similarly Jake Garvey who is maturing into a very sound and intelligent player. Joe Murley's pace and effort was an important contribution towards the victory. In the middle George Burrows rarely made a mistake and his combinations with Sean, Joe W and Matty dominated the midfield. Sean had an impressive game and never stopped running and is working well with another star of the future Joe Walters, whose two goals were strikes of the highest quality. Michael also had a good game, with yet another two goals scored and the whole team looks to be a well balanced unit.
It was very difficult to pick a Man of the Match as every player had a good game.
It came down to a close run thing between several but one player just shaded it above the rest - and the Greens in the Valley Man of the Match is:
Shots on Target 11 3
Shots off Target 8 5
Corners 10 4
